Goodbyes...

July 27, 2025 - 10:10AM…

Utica, NY. Packing. A solitary fan blowing alongside the dining room table. Yeay heading out shortly to see the monk, conflicted with how long she should go based on our departure. Feet dragging everywhere. I get it. I’m just the driver, ready whenever everyone says , ‘Go!’ The dogs sense it too. Goodbyes are like this.

Damn...

Our final morning. The house is asleep. Two ceiling fans are whirling. Low tide is on display. Bright sun alongside. I have a secret wish of wanting to maintain this bubble. This time in our life here. But I know in my heart of hearts that’s not possible. This held the magic it did for that very reason. That is the beauty in all of it — in all of everything. The shelf life. Another note to self to soak in the moments. I should be packing up, but I’m sitting in the silence watching a lone walker along the water’s edge. A few boats are sailing on the horizon. This exact scene will never happen again and I’ve got a front row seat. Damn.
