That place...

I’ve stared at this image on more than one occasion.

The everyday commute…

…with a little rain alongside

Bright lights

Scrambling pedestrians

Traffic

The sound of tires on wet roadways

The commute home…

The space in between work…

…and the ones that I love

Mentally adrift

…on autopilot

A fuzzy place

….where the mind goes everywhere and nowhere

Simultaneously

…and all things are possible.

2014

…a new year,

Ripe for the taking.

I see familiar resolutions across social media

…smile to myself

…and do my best to focus and plug away,

With similar thoughts of days (and years) past

Regarding…

Time

Family

Money

Making

….and my mind continues to toss these words around.

A never ending tumble cycle…

…for this bald guy.

A little more grey.

A little more wrinkled.

A little wiser, perhaps

A little more fit, questionable (but trying)

A little more…

Appreciative.

With experience gained, I’ll fight the current a little less this year and…

I’ll continue to hone myself

…and my craft.

I’ll use my hands more.

To help and make…

Wherever and whenever I’m able.

I’ll continue to…

Focus.

Soak it all in.

Make more conscious efforts to disconnect electronically.

Make…for the sake of making alone.

Be.

Provide.

…and look for the light!

Spare Rooms...

Yesterday was one of those days that I felt extremely lucky.

There’s a great short film in the works called Spare Rooms.  It’s being directed by Matt Bowden…and it tells the story of a same-sex couple’s plans to appear in the closet, and the weight it bears on their son.

I was able to be a fly-on-the wall during a fitting and hair/make-up consult….and just do what I do.  I love that sort of freedom.  I love that sort of trust.  Thanks Matt!

It was great to catch up with David Morley of Zinnia Films – just being around this guy makes me smile inside and out.  He captured Sara and I’s weddings in Utica and Baltimore, so he holds a special place in our family’s collective heart.

Please check out the Spare Rooms website when you’re able…and jump out on their Facebook page and give it a like to keep up to date.  Good good schtuff is on the horizon…

Sometimes...

...you know.

You don't want to.

But you know.

Since your brother passed...

I've watched you.

More so than usual.

Watching your eating patterns...

...noticing the changes in your body.

It makes me sad.

What can I expect?  You're 17.

Sometimes I think you're going through the motions...

....for my benefit.

This week I'll schedule an appointment for the vet....

....and they'll tell me what I already suspect.

Sometimes...

....you know.

I love you KC boy.  Hang in there for me.  For us.

A little while longer my friend.

...because sometimes

Sometimes....

....holding on is all we have.
