Driving to Mom and Dad’s on Sunday morning.
Sleepy eyes.
On autopilot.
Trance-like.
Turning these simple thoughts over and over in my mind…
We have to show up for each other. We have to physically be present and surrounded by heart beats...to feel the collective energy and power and strength in going at it together.
I don't have the answers for all of the problems that exist. I won't claim to know much at the end of the day. But I do know that being present is a start...
Show up.
After dinner hi-jinks...
The Back Seat...
We spend a good chunk of our lives here.
Toted from one thing to the next.
My dad typically drove.
My brother took the seat behind him.
I always sat behind Mom.
Wouldn’t be long into the drive and I’d be out like a light.
Hardly ever a peep of ‘Are we there yet?’
This guy is following in my footsteps.
Minutes into heading for a haircut.
Music at full blast.
The back seat.
What a magical, memorable place.
Nature Beckons...
An open invitation awaits.
Life’s lessons on full display.
What works.
What doesn’t.
Simplicity.
No bells.
No whistles.
No airs.
No hustle.
Ready when we are.
Ready when we’re not.
Day in and day out.
Nature beckons.
Moments Find Us...
Moments find us.
They want us to see them.
To stop.
Take pause.
And look outward.
Beyond ourself.
Beyond the daily to do list.
Beyond whatever it is that kept us from seeing them just a second ago.
Beyond whatever it is that may be weighing us down.
Moments find us.
Sometimes just when we need them the most.
Moments change us.
Bit by bit.
…and these moments
…surrounding us everyday
…are everything.
