Tuesday morning...

‘Tuesday - 5/31/2022 - 8:59AM - Outside at the picnic table. 79 degrees. Birds chirping. A lone jackhammer is having it’s way. Summer on the horizon. The pool opened this past weekend and the boys and I were there every day. It was a packed, crazy house. Not my kinda scene but the boys had fun. The girls were in NJ for a vball tournament. Now everyone is off to school/work and it’s just me and the dogs. I requested a couple of David Sedaris books from the library. I saw a snippet on the daily NY Times email about a new book release….read a little…and thought it might be just what I needed. Meanwhile, 3 squirrels are keeping me entertained jumping from branch to branch. I feel in a slump lately…but can’t really complain — life is good. I just feel sorta out of the mix. Disinterested. Not trying to dig too deep or think about it much. Feels good to write. Feels good to sit outside…for now…until the heat truly starts to kick in. Then I’ll retreat to the AC hum indoors. Outside seems/feels really alive right now.’

History repeats itself...

When I was a kid, I always ate my cereal this way.

In the basement.

On the floor.

Watching cartoons.

I can vividly remember my Dad yelling at me.

‘Get off your stomach. Stop eating like a dog.’

So when I came in the door to this I smiled and reached for the camera.

I didn’t yell.

I remembered.

Those cereal eating days on the floor were some of my best.

I hope the same for this little guy.
